BREAD PUDDING

PREPARATION TIME:
1/2 hour

BAKING TIME:
45 minutes to one hour

OVEN TEMPERATURE:
365 degrees F

INGREDIENTS:
2-3 cups stale bread(or ring-type or coffee cake).
1/2-1 cup sugar (use 1 cup for bread and 1/2 cup if you use coffee cake).
1 egg (optional - gives a more custard effect when added, but can omitted)
1 apple peeled and sliced thin or grated
Juice of one orange
3/4 cup raisons
3/4 cup chopped nuts
1 quart milk
cinnamon
margarine or butter
light cream or vanilla ice cream

DIRECTIONS:
Butter the bowl.
Put the bread in; add sugar raisons, nuts, cinnamon(to taste)and mix.
Add apple, orange juice and egg. Mix slightly.
Add milk until you can see it, but don't cover bread mixture.
Sprinkle with cinnamon and dot with butter or margarine.
Bake until brown and crispy looking-remove from oven.
Pour a little light cream over top of serving or serve with ice cream on top, or just enjoy it plain.
