NAN'S SODA SCONE RECIPE
(PAN BREAD)

INGREDIENTS:
2 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1+ cup buttermilk
1 tablespoon sugar
2 tablespoons shortening (NOT OIL)
raisins (optional)

DIRECTIONS:
Blend shortening with dry ingredients until uniformly mixed.
Add raisins if desired.
Stir in buttermilk and mix well.
"Pat" mix out on a floured surface (half of this recipe makes a patted circle abour 1/2 inch thick).
Cut "circle" into 4-6 pie-shaped wedges.
(If dough is sticky, work in extra flour)
Cook on top of stove in an ungreased pan or in an electric fry pan
Continue to turn scones until done (sides no longer doughy).
